Down is a natural insulator that requires a bit of extra care. Allow us to share some tips for keeping it nice and lofty.

How to Wash and Dry

But first, check the care label located in the interior pocket — near the side seam of the puffer. It may have style-specific instructions.

Wash It

Close all zippers, then wash separately in a front-loading machine on gentle cycle, cold. Use detergent formulated for down and do not use fabric softeners. Complete an additional rinse cycle, as residual detergent could affect loft.

Dry It

Tumble dry on low until it’s totally dry. This might take a couple cycles. For extra loft, add three tennis balls or dryer balls to the machine. The bouncing will help re-fluff it.

How to Re-Fluff Your Puff

Whether it lost some volume in storage or you just want the puffiest coat possible — here’s how to get more loft.

Method 1 — By Hand

Use a scrunching motion to redistribute the down. Then, lift your puff from the bottom and shake it. After, hang it in a warm area for up to 48 hours.

Method 2 — By Machine

Close all zippers. Then tumble dry your garment on low along with a slightly damp cloth for 15–30 minutes. Still need more loft? Add three clean tennis or dryer balls to the mix. Repeat as necessary.

How to Store

Because you probably won’t be wearing much down in July.

Always Store Dry
