First Boutique Opening
1984
Once upon a time, the Hill family started a special
something called “Aritzia” inside their 70-year-old
department store in Vancouver, Canada.
Then, in 1984, Brian Hill opened the first standalone
Aritzia in Oakridge Centre, a shopping mall in
his hometown.
Expanding Across Canada
1999
Putting down roots outside your hometown is always
a big milestone — and it felt that way for us, too.
In 1999 we opened our first Toronto boutique to deliver
(in our own words) “serious goods for all the girls.”
Tna Brand Launch
2001
It all started when one of our designers envisioned
a collection rooted in her own background of
skateboard culture. So yes, skater girls were the
original Tna muse.
PS. It stands for Talula National Athletics,
if you or your mom were still wondering.
A Bit About Our Bags
2005
A deep love of creativity led us to turn our shopping
bags into art pieces.
Since 2005, we’ve collaborated annually with artists
to showcase their work through our Artistic License
Program. Juergen Teller, Zoe Ghertner, Jamie
Hawkesworth and Harley Weir have all graced the cover of
our bags.
Call Us Olympians
2010
The Vancouver Olympics were a big deal here.
So we designed accessories awarded to medalists,
full looks for our Canadian athletes and a collection
available to the public — Park Life x Aritzia.
Maybe you remember those fur-lined hoodies?
Our Famous Window Displays
2012
We treat our window displays like little galleries you
can see from the street. A favourite display involved
flying cats in 2012. Our Visual Display Creative
Director says the inspiration “came to him in a dream.”
eCommerce Launch
2012
We launched our eCommerce site in 2012 with only
12 people on the team. The first-ever site featured
our own online magazine and of course our beloved
curly logo.
Meet The Super Puff™
2016
We dropped the first-ever Super Puff in 2016,
but it had a different name and only came in black
and red.
After its rename, the now cult-status puffer became
so successful we decided to build an entire brand
around it — with a lot more than two colours.
Time For a Coffee Break
2018
Caffeine and shopping go together like jeans and a
t-shirt, so we created a new food and beverage
concept called A-OK Cafe, now found in our head
office and select boutiques.
We Opened 3 Flagships
2024
In November 2024, we opened an iconic new
Flagship Boutique in SoHo, New York. We celebrated,
then opened two more flagships one after the other
— the first in Chicago at Michigan Ave, the next in
New York at Fifth Ave.
It all happened in less than a month — our own
holiday miracle where Everyday Luxury got big, fast.
Women to the Power of Women
Now and Forever
Jennifer Wong officially became our CEO in 2022,
making our status as a women-led company that
much more official. Some stats we’re really proud
of, as of 2024:
-73% of our Senior Leadership team are women
-74% of our total employees are women
-92% of our retail leadership team are women
