the slouch™ coat

Not sure why these are designed so oversized…. Who is this for? Oversized is great but these are two sizes two large and I’m swimming in it! Normally a small and the XS was HUGE. It’s not a cute look.

This is such a lovely coat! I haven't found anyone similar size to me so hopefully this review helps someone! I am 5'2 150 lbs, and I wear size 8 tops and bottoms. I have a little broader shoulders and straight hips. The size recommendation for me was a M, but others say to size down. I ordered a size S and it was HUGE. I had to return it and get the XS which is a perfect amount of oversized for me. I have no problem wearing a sweater or hoodie under it. The length hits mid calf on me. The material is so soft and has a nice weight to it.

Bought it for spring and fall but material is for winter..would need one anyway. Great fit and design.

The best oversized jacket that you can dress up or down. I’m normally a small but bought a xs could even have done a xxs

Beautiful coat so happy I got this coat . I’ve wanted it for such a long time. This coat is in Black Grey herringbone and wool/ cashmere mix a size medium I’m 5”4 I tried on the large was too big medium is just perfect. It’s a beautiful coat to transition to from spring to fall. Very happy with my purchase.

This is my third slouch coat. I love it so much.

I love the fit, oversized but not too sloppy. I’m usually a size 0 but need to go all the way to XXS (can fit a thick sweater under). I’ve tested it under 30F and it def holds the warmth.
Only problem is the coat is a bit heavy given the thick material blend. Also I wish there’s more wool percentage for this price.

I love this coat so much. I walked across town in very cold weather (-10 with wind chill) in NYC recently and stayed cozy (except my face!). I love that you can button it all the way up and cover your neck and it’s nice and roomy over thick sweathers. Super chic. The herringbone version (I got the white/gray) is great for hiding pet fur).

I tried this on in store multiple times and was stuck between S and XS, I ended up going with the XS. I am 5'4, 155 lbs and a M in most clothes. I can still fit a chunky sweater underneath too. The quality and fit of this coat is beautiful. If you are unsure about sizing I would go down 2 sizes.

I’m tall (5’10) so this coat hits just right at mid calf. I got the grey/black houndstooth and it’s super stylish and versatile with room for bulkier sweaters or a light jacket underneath. Good quality fabric too. It is for -10c I’d say max, but provides good warmth and coverage. Super happy with the style overall despite the higher price. Think it’s a keeper for several years and a wardrobe staple!

Love the classic silhouette of this coat. The lining is better quality, and much warmer than any other Babaton coat I've had in the past. The fit is very oversized. I ordered my usual x-small but I'm literally swimming in it. I still kept it because that is the look I was going for, but I probably could have sized down and still had the oversized look.

I really love this coat. It's well made, very warm, the fabric is high quality, and the overall shape/silhouette looks great on me. I highly recommend this coat, but you should go down a size for a flattering fit/look. Sleeves are too long if you buy it in your regular size, but seem to fit a size down (I bought XS rather than my normal size S).

I'm a coat designer for another brand and I have a few fit comments for your team:
1. The sleeves are too long if you buy your normal size. I'm normally a size small and the sleeves were way too long on the size small, but they fit me well on size XS. My arms are a very average length, so the sleeves were definitely too long. If that was your intention, it's not flattering and just make the coat look like it doesn't fit right.
2. I love that this style is oversized, and that's why I bought it. However, I think you went a little too far on making it oversized. I had to go down a size to XS to get a coat that looked flattering, while still having a flattering oversized look. XS was mostly sold out at the store I was at, and a lot of the bigger sizes were readily available, so I'd guess everyone sized down, causing you to be left with too much stock in the bigger sizes.
3. When I button the top button to the collar point, it's way too tight around my face. The button position or collar specs should be adjusted to improve comfort when button at the top. When it's cold I like to button the top button on coats like this, but it's too uncomfortable on this coat.

Overall a great coat overall though, I'd just consider the above spec revisions if you sell this coat again next year.

I think the stitching looks high quality and it’s a great coat to dress up or down!

My main comment to anyone considering buying this is to NOT be turned off by the lower wool percentage than other versions of the Slouch coat. The material used to make this coat seems very high quality to me as well as has a very nice weight to it. It feels soft but heavy enough to keep me warm. I tried this in the black/white and black/grey herringbone versions as well as the black/grey tweed version and they all had the same quality fabric.

In store I tried on other Slouch versions and this one does NOT feel sub-par in any way, shape or form. In fact I saw other styles of coats in the store (not Slouch) that were closer to 100% wool but felt much lower quality as they were made with a much thinner wool.

I am 5'7" 165 lbs and the M fit me well in that it provided the oversized look the coat design is all about. I technically could fit in a S but the sleeves were shorter and it just didn't have the right vibe.

I do not shop at Aritizia so was NOT prepared for the fact that sale items bought in store are final sale. I had bought the white/black herringbone in store and then ordered the grey/black herringbone and tweed online intending to only keep one. Since the online ones were also on sale they were supposed to be eligible for only store credit version full refund. Fortunately Concierge was helpful and authorized a full refund for 2 of the 3 coats knowing I only intended to keep on.

This coat is well-crafted and elegant, fabric feels soft and warm. It runs on the larger side, so, as I prefer a more fitted silhouette and typically wear a size S, I opted for an XS. I purchased it in-store with a $50 reduction from the regular price. Although the discount is relatively small, it resulted in a final sale - something to keep in mind for sure.

I’ve been debating whether or not to splurge and just get this coat. I finally caved and got the black and grey Herringbone! It’s going to be my winter staple and winter coat. I was on the fence with the sizing, obviously it’s oversized but didn’t want to drown in it. I’m curvy so I want a coat that complements the booty when buttoned up, I’m 5’4 and went with a 2XS. It’s prefect, oversized but to wear it makes me look like a sack of potatoes.

This is my favorite piece of clothing I own of all time, and I own a LOT of clothes. I can't believe I went this long without it. The material, length, DEEP pockets - it's just perfect. I am a taller gal and the length hits below my knee. I usually wear everything in size S but sized down to XS for this one and it is just the right amount of slouchy. Would recommend trying on in-store first or getting multiple sizes.

I’m so happy I finally added one to my wardrobe. Sizing was a debate. Go try it on if you can. My upper body is average but small compared to my butt/hip. The medium was just too oversized for my shoulders and I felt lost/sloppy. I opted for the small which is a bit tight on my butt, but I’m more concerned with how the top half looks. I feel it is slouchy enough for me. For comparison I was considering a large in the superpuff20 to cover my hip area.

It took me a long time to figure out which color pattern I liked best (the brown herringbone is what I landed on), and then trying to figure out size was challenging as well. I got both the XS and the XXS and I ended up keeping the XXS. If I were a taller gal, perhaps the XS would have been fine, but on my frame, I was swimming in the XS, and it went close to my ankles. The thing to know about this coat is it does slightly taper as it hits the hips. So the 2XS still gives me a roomy fit up top (I can wear both a big sweater and a thin Uniqlo jacket easily underneath), but is a little more tapered down below (while still falling straight at the back). Roomy pockets are a plus. And the coat does have a button up top so you can stay warmer in these Canadian winters. It's heavy, so even more important to get the right fit.

I absolutely love this coat. I was worried about the sizing, I wondered if I should size down as many suggest. I ordered my usual size small and it was perfectly oversized. I even went to the store to try on the xs and while it was still large, it was missing that slouch element that you want. I’m impressed with how long the sleeves and body are, typically things are short on me if I don’t order the Tall version but this one fit perfectly (I’m 5’9 130lb). My only concern is the wool content. I wish there was an option for this print with a higher natural fiber content. So far it has kept me warm, I’m waiting for a frigid NY winter day to really test it out. Overall, it’s a beautiful coat decently suited for even my taller girls.

I wanted to love this jacket so bad, but unfortunately it takes oversized to the next level. First, I will give credit where it's due. The herringbone white/birch is the most gorgeous colour pattern released in a long time and the construction of the jacket and materials felt luxurious. The "pros" of this jacket stopped there though. I expected it to be pretty oversized based on reviews, but this borders on sloppy. I ordered an XS I would've needed like 5 sizes smaller for it to be remotely wearable for me. I'm 5'4", usually a size 4. I often get a size up in jackets so I can comfortably wear blazers or sweaters underneath. This jacket made me look like a toddler playing dress up in my dad's jacket. It is HUGE.
Unfortunately, the sizing of most of Aritizia's coats and blazers seem to be going this way. As someone who has a business dress code for work, it'd be really nice if Aritzia brought back some dress styles that are actually appropriate for the office.

Gorgeous coat. Material, cut, design is 10/10. I am 5’3 and got a small and it almost hits my feet. Nothing wrong with a long coat but I expected it to hit my knees at most. Definitely size down and short girls, it will be long!

I've been searching for the perfect, slightly oversized, wool coat. This coat has a great length (long!), super soft wool, and I love the colour. Don't think it'll be warm enough in -10+ weather here in Canada, but I plan on pairing it with a light down vest on those days. I like that it's tailored but I can still wear a warm thicker sweater underneath.

The color, fabric and the drape of the tailoring all seem especially to me for a garment at this price point. Only fault in my view is the coat is noticeably heavy, but it will be warm. I exchanged for an xs, the small was overwhelming.

This is the first coat I’ve purchased that cost more than $200, but I knew I needed something made with wool and something that would be timeless for the harsh Minnesota winters. This will be my go-to this season and many more. Fits true to size for that slouchy feel/look, not too oversized. Enough for a couple layers and a scarf underneath. Highly recommend!

Ugh I can wear this with a sweatsuit, uggs and a toque and be so cozy but put together. At 5’8” the coat was as long as I wanted and that loose long drapery 80s vibe….look no further than your favourite European influencers on Instagram. The basic wool is lovely but this fabrication in herringbone I believe will be bomb proof huddling along through Canadian prairie winters. While I may not be Parisian I’m channeling that same euro vibe. Don’t overthink it. While I love Superpuffs this coat is definitely put together. There’s reviews of wrinkles…I believe this herringbone is the solution to seeing that effect.

Also the fabrication is very stiff and not as drappy as the solid colours.

I have returned this coat and bought solid navy.

I love this coat but I wish that I had ordered one size smaller. With my height, this coat makes me look even bigger with it being a loose fit. Otherwise, I love it. I ordered the herringbone print and it is so beautiful. This coat is actually quite heavy and you can tell that it is well-made. It is very warm on those cold days.. it feels like I am walking around with a warm blanket :)

I have several slouch coats and I totally I love them all, I'm medium size but I buy size 3 cuz I love the oversized fit, is a slouch c'mmon is supposed to be oversized and is totally my way !!! Beautiful coat ever 🖤🤎🤍

I’m 5’3” 150lbs and bought a medium although the size guide recommended a large. It was MASSIVE. The hem hit about 3” above my ankle and the sleeves would have needed to be hemmed 3-4”. If the general shape and quality were nicer it would have been worth the tailoring costs but for almost $500 with taxes, it just wasn’t. The overall cut just didn’t hang well and looked unbalanced. The cost also came with a price tag that was $50 cheaper than the online price I paid and I’m not sure it was worth that price either considering the low wool content.

PLEASE make the Herringbn Grey/White color in “Tall.” It’s so unfair and disappointing us tall girls only have a couple colors to choose from. This coat is beautiful and I would love to be able to get it in this grey color. I have to return the one I got it’s too short.

I specifically wanted a herringbone-patterned coat, and I loved the pictures of this one online. I'm typically a M and the closest size for me on this one was a S. Even then, I still felt like I was swimming in the coat, even thought the size was probably appropriate. The coat was wearing me, I was not wearing it. I feel like the proportions are off? I was debating between this and the New Stedman coat and that one fit like a dream (in my typical M). The quality seems really high, love the materials, but be careful on the fit.

It’s amazing and first day i spilled coffee all k er the front and came right out! It’s super warm and I even double layer it with my puffy jacket for extra warmth.

Very oversized fit, which is what I like. I'm 5'3" and typically wear size 4/S but opted for the XS and it fits perfect. Small would have been too big.

I bought this in the dark grey herringbone and I really like it. The material is soft and plush and very thick. It does fit large though/ I bought the XS and compared with my camel hair in Small and it’s almost the same size- maybe ever so slightly smaller. I’m typically a small at Aritzia (5’5, 120 lbs) long arms and torso. So I would say probably size down for this one.

I love this coat. I hadn't seen a herringbone coat in years. It is classic look and I get compliments all the time.

After trying all the versions of the slouch coat, I opted for this one. If you are looking for a real winter coat that will keep you warm on the coldest days, that's the one! As I put it on, I already felt warmer. The fabric is heavier and sturdier than the other versions. Also, the pattern is beautiful and original, yet classic so you can style it with everyhing. The angular pattern on the sleeve is so charming and elegant. It is undeniably of high quality crafting and in my opinion, is worth the penny. It'll be my go to for many canadian winters to come!

This coat is perfect for when you’re wearing bulky sweaters. The coat itself is soft. It’s like wearing a large blanket.

The herringbone fabric is heavy and makes the jacket feel high end and sturdy. Loved the fit once I tried on the right size (two sizes down from what I would normally wear). Versatile—can be dressed up or down.

I was so excited for this coat to come in the mail and when I finally tried it on I was swimming in it. It’s crazy oversized, I’m a size medium (size 6-8) unless the item is oversized and I will size down like the super puff for example. However I asked over chat what size to get and I was recommended the medium. Soo in other words definitely size down. I hope the small will work for me. The coat was beautiful and nice quality. Just the sizing was tricky.

Love the quality, it’s a heavy, thick coat, oversized but I even went a size up to have that huggable feeling.

Definitely size down if you want it to fit normal, I had the original slouch coat when it came in size 1,2, and 3 and I was between a 2/3, This one however, I had to go with the size S because it was so oversized! The wool is a bit stiffer than the original one but still a beautiful cut and design

The coat itself is quite nice. Heavy, perfect length for some taller (I’m 5’9” and it hits mid shin). HOWEVER, I wore it in NYC with a windy -7 and I was cold. I suggest to layer up underneath and you should be fine.
