Impact Partners

AAFA

AAFA is the US trade association representing apparel, footwear and travel goods companies and their suppliers. Aritzia’s membership with the AAFA ties into our work as an apparel retailer, including our Supply Chain Social Impact programs, and helps us stay up to date on apparel industry standards and changes in public policy.

Cascale

Cascale is a global, non-profit alliance with the aim of enabling collaboration within the consumer goods industry. Formerly known as the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, Cascale owns and develops the Higg Index tools, which is exclusively available on Worldly. As a member, Aritzia leverages a selection of Cascale’s Higg Index tools and other services to gain environmental insights into its operations and supply chain.

Retail Council Canada

Retail Council of Canada (RCC) is a non-profit, industry-funded association that advances the interests of retailers in Canada through effective advocacy, communications and education. As a member of RCC, Aritzia gains access to industry information, programs and engagement opportunities.

Textile Exchange

Textile Exchange is a global nonprofit that works with members of the textile industry to drive transformation in preferred fibres, integrity and standards and responsible supply networks. As a member of the Textile Exchange, Aritzia remains up to date with leading environmental and social practices and information within the textile industry and gains access to its set of preferred material standards to adopt into our own policies.

United Nations (UN) Global Compact

The UN Global Compact is a leading global corporate sustainability resource that actively engages with businesses in cooperation with civil society and representatives of organized labour. In 2021, Aritzia joined the United Nations (UN) Global Compact ― an initiative that works to implement universal principles on human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.

Worldly

Worldly is a sustainability data and analytics platform for the consumer goods industry. Built on industry standards, including Cascale’s Higg Index tools, Worldly aims to enable brands, retailers and suppliers to use data to help inform strategic action, reduce risk, meet evolving regulations and accelerate measurable impact. Aritzia leverages the Higg Materials Sustainability Index, Higg Facility Environmental Module, Higg Brand & Retail Module and Fair Factories Clearinghouse tools on Worldly as part of our Sustainability programming

People Partners

Better Work

Better Work is a partnership between the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) that brings together governments, employers, workers and international buyers to improve compliance with labour standards and promote competitiveness in global supply chains. As a Better Work Buyer Partner, Aritzia and its participating supplier facilities gain access to ongoing capacity-building and advisory support.

Brands For Canada

Brands For Canada is an organization that believes in a sustainable world where surplus goods are purposefully used to eliminate poverty and inequality. Through this partnership, Aritzia proudly makes regular product donations that are then distributed through trusted social service agencies and schools throughout Canada.

The Brotherhood Sister Sol

The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis) is a nonprofit committed to educating, organizing and training the next generation of Black and Latinx youth. We provide funding for self-identified girls to participate in the BroSis College, Career and Wellness Program. Through this initiative, hundreds of Black and Latinx youth in Harlem and New York City gain exposure to the college experience and receive guidance to plan for their futures.

Canadian Journalism Foundation

We are proud to be a founding sponsor of the Black Women’s Journalism Fellowship Program with CBC/Radio-Canada, in partnership with The Canadian Journalism Foundation. The Fellowship amplifies Black voices, improves coverage of Black issues and helps grow future Black media leaders.

Cause We Care Foundation

Cause We Care Foundation invests in programs and services that support single mothers in achieving security and building positive futures for themselves and their children. We support Cause We Care through financial donations, as well as by volunteering at fundraising events, donating product gifts annually to the Mother’s Day and Holiday Care Package drives and more.

Good360

Good360 — a global leader in product philanthropy and purposeful giving — has a mission to transform lives by helping families and communities find hope, dignity and a sense of renewed possibility during challenging life circumstances. We work with Good360 to expand our reach and deliver product donations to women in the USA.

Indspire

Indspire is a national non-profit organization that supports Indigenous education and achievement within Canada. We partner with Indspire to award scholarships to women-identifying Indigenous students who demonstrate excellence in post-secondary academic achievement and community engagement. Designed for students in business, retail management, fashion merchandising, education, fine arts and Indigenous studies programs, the scholarship aims to empower recipients to achieve their highest potential.

Kickback

Kickback is a Toronto-based non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth in underserved communities. Their vision is to create a world where kids have the confidence to achieve their dreams and become future changemakers. Aritzia provides financial support for Kickback’s initiatives, which champion the personal growth and emerging careers of young Toronto women.

Minerva BC

Minerva BC is a Vancouver-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing the leadership of women and girls. For more than a decade, Aritzia has supported Minerva BC in delivering their youth leadership programs. As the Lead Sponsor of Learning to Lead™ — the organization’s leadership program for high-school girls — we provide financial support and volunteer hours in the form of mentorship. We also welcome participants of the Learning to Lead™ program to our Vancouver Support Campus for The Power of Confidence — a day of behind-the-scenes tours and career-focused talks.

Orange Shirt Society

Orange Shirt Society is an organization that fosters reconciliation in response to the intergenerational impacts of residential schools. To acknowledge Orange Shirt Day, we collaborate with community artists to create limited-edition Orange T-Shirts. 100% of proceeds are donated to Orange Shirt Society.

Pow Wow Pitch

Pow Wow Pitch supports Indigenous entrepreneurs in pursuing their ideas to build businesses rooted in Indigenous culture. They create an empowering platform for inspiration, education, mentorship, celebration and reconciliation through various entrepreneurship competitions and programs. We provide financial support and funding for the Aritzia Entrepreneur Grants awarded to self-identifying women and two-spirit Indigenous entrepreneurs .

Responsible Labor Initiative

The Responsible Labor Initiative (RLI), a multi-industry, multi-stakeholder community of practice, is focused on ensuring the rights of workers vulnerable to forced labour in supply chains are respected and promoted. Aritzia’s membership in the RLI ties directly to our Supply Chain Social Impact programs, which focus on respecting and upholding human rights throughout our supply chain.

Step Up

Step Up is a mentorship nonprofit providing programs that help girls and girl-identifying youth achieve their unique version of success. We’re proud to fund their Step Up on Campus program, which provides high-school teens the support of an on-campus educator to help them explore careers, build skills, take action and cultivate community. We currently fund this program at schools in five cities across the USA.

Stonewall Community Foundation

Stonewall Community Foundation (SCF) strengthens the LGBTQIA2S+ movement by making values-driven investments in dynamic organizations, projects and leaders. We support SCF through financial contributions directed towards community grants and education initiatives including the Aritzia x Stonewall Community Foundation Scholarship.

Union Gospel Mission

Aritzia proudly supports Union Gospel Mission (UGM) and its programs aimed to uplift women struggling with homelessness and addiction in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Aritzia makes regular product donations that go directly to women in UGM’s programs and supports Repair to Wear — an empowerment initiative that provides women with training, flexible work and community resources as well as life and job skills.

Urban Native Youth Association

Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) is a centre of Indigenous youth excellence and supports them through cultural teachings, mentorship, education, housing, wellness and recreation. Aritzia supports UNYA with product donations and funds their Woven Futures program, which empowers Indigenous girls and youth to stitch their stories, design their futures and rise as leaders — unifying cultural teachings with contemporary garment-making and design.

Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management (AFIRM) Group

The Apparel and Footwear International RSL Management (AFIRM) Group is a coalition of apparel and footwear companies collaborating to promote responsible chemicals management in the global supply chain. Aritzia is a member of the AFIRM Group to help align our practices with international industry standards and best practices.

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI)

Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is a global nonprofit with the mission to make global cotton production better for the people and environments that produce it. Aritzia partners with BC to source cotton that is certified, at the farm-level, to meet environmental, social and economic standards. Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is sourced via a chain of custody model called mass balance. This means that Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is not physically traceable to end products, however, Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) Farmers benefit from the demand for Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) in equivalent volumes to those we source.

Canopy

Canopy is a nonprofit that collaborates with the forestry industry’s biggest customers and their suppliers to develop business solutions to protect the world’s forests. As a signatory of the CanopyStyle commitment, we source 100% of our wood-based cellulosic fibers from Green Shirt fibre producers, a designation assigned based on a supplier’s work to eliminate the use of ancient and endangered forests in its supply. As a partner of Canopy’s Pack4Good initiative, we’ve focused our efforts on sourcing paper-based packaging made from recycled content and from forests certified by FSC. As a result, 100% of our paper-based eCommerce and retail packaging contains recycled content and/or has a low risk of being sourced from ancient and endangered forests.


Debrand

Debrand provides brands with proprietary, tech-enabled sortation services that send excess inventory to the highest-value channels through a vetted network of textile resale, donation, repair, recycling and responsible disposal partners. Aritzia has been partnering with Debrand since 2013 to support our product end-of-life efforts. In the case of defective, sample or otherwise non-donatable and unsellable products, Aritzia partners with Debrand to divert product and fabric scraps from landfills.

The Good Cashmere Standard®

The Good Cashmere Standard® (GCS) is an independent standard for responsible cashmere developed by the Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF). This standard was created to improve the welfare of cashmere goats, with respect to the Five Freedoms, and with the aim of improving the economic, social and ecological conditions of cashmere farmers, their families and their communities in Inner Mongolia. To source our cashmere more ethically, Aritzia has become a member of GCS, and we’ve adopted GCS cashmere in the production of our 100% cashmere apparel products.

Green-e® Energy

Green-e® Energy is North America’s leading independent certification and verification program for renewable electricity, including wind and solar. Aritzia purchases renewable energy credits generated from Green-e® programs in the USA and Canada to account for our energy consumption and enable us to meet our target of sourcing 100% of our electricity from renewable sources.


regenagri®

regenagri® is an international regenerative agriculture program that supports farms and organizations transitioning to holistic farming, increasing soil health, encouraging biodiversity, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and sequestering CO2. As a regenagri® partner, Aritzia aims to incorporate regenagri®-certified cotton into its offering.

Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that defines and promotes best practices in science-based target-setting and independently assesses companies’ targets. These targets support global efforts to limit warming to 1.5°C and avoid irreversible climate change. Aritzia’s near-term targets have been validated by the SBTi.
