the effortless short™ mid-thigh

I ordered the color Saville in a size 4 and it was skin tight. For reference, I have size 4’s in 2 other pairs of effortless shorts and 2 pairs of effortless pants. I was surprised these didn’t fit. I’m not sure if the 6’s would give right look. I might need an 8.

The 3” was out of stock so I tried the 5”, wasn’t sure if it’d be too long and it wasn’t, it was great! Love this belted with the sculpt tank and strappy heels. I feel like sizing runs slightly small; it fits my waist well but the cut feels like it rids up a little? Hard to describe.

These shorts are exactly what they are described to be. They are true to size and are so flattering in the fit. They’re also such a great elevated looking short! I love the length as well. I’m 5’4 and they hit mid thigh. Can’t say enough good things about them. I love them!

Such a great elevated style, but ended up wearing a size 8 when I’m usually a size 4. Great short to wear with crop tops because they are long and super high waisted.

I wear the effortless pants in a size 8 and the fit is perfect so I ordered the shorts in the same size and they are way too small. I’m trying a size 10 to see if it’s any better

Fit is really nice! They’re very compfy. They’re a good summer work pants. They remind me of the “carrot pants” fit.

Definitely size up one if you originally had a different size for the Effortless pants. When the first Effortless pants came out I purchased a 2 and that size fit perfectly. They must've changed their sizing because the 2's in the Effortless now feel too snug on my waist, which had never been the issue. I followed the reviews and went with a 4 in the black and cairo and thank the lord, the shorts are perfect and drape beautifully on my 5'3 frame. These are definitely worth getting and will be worn at the office - yay! For reference, my stats are 5'3 / 105lbs / 32A.

I own the pants and recently bought these shorts after trying them on in store. TLDR; I ended up needing to size up 1 size in the shorts from what I wear in the pants to get a similar fit. I couldn't figure out what size I'd need based on the reviews so I'm going to include details for sizing here: I'm 5'4", 28in waist and 39in hips for reference. For the pants, a 2 was slightly too small, so I got the 4 to fit slightly looser. For the shorts, it was the exact same fit but 1 size off, so the 4 was slightly too small, and I ended up needing the size 6 to get the same fit I have with the pants. Sizing aside though, they do fit very much like the pants and look really cute. I have shorter legs and the 5in inseam fits perfectly for longer shorts.

I size up a size in these - they're adorbs but small! The light birch color is see through.

I'm really into business casual shorts currently, and I think these shorts fit the bill. Similar to what other reviewers say, you should definitely size up (1-2 sizes) if you want the pants to fit you, but that's just Aritzia clothes in general. Like I'm usually a 6, but I got a 10 for these pants. I really like pairing them with a scoop neck crop top and a jacket or linen shirt overtop. It's very versatile.

I sized up to a size 6 after reading previous reviews and so glad that I did! I am normally a size 4 but would definitely recommend sizing up.

I wouldn't order this item online if you're on the fence about size. I read all the reviews and they all said to size up. I'm always a 0 in Aritzia and the effortless pants...but listened to the reviews and sized up...big mistake LOL the size 2 came down to my low hip. Will be returning.

I love these shorts. I'm 5'3 so I was worried they'd be too long but after ordering the 3" and 5" I am pleasantly surprised by the 5". They sit at a good length where they don't look too long or too short. I sized up to a 6 versus my usual 4 like other reviewers mentioned and find that to be a comfortable fit. I could have maybe gotten away with my typical size since the waist is a bit big but I'm glad I sized up. or the pleats would stretch too much on the hip area.

Listen to the reviews! I wear a size 0 in the effortless pants and most aritzia pants but these run small on the waist. I'm exchanging mine for a size up to be more comfortable, the fit outside of that is amazing though!

Sizing fluctuates bought a 4 in Saville and 2 in the Sage. Very nice looking shorts. Haven’t had a chance to wear them yet. Thinking they will be nice to dress up or could be worn golfing.

For reference, I always wear a size 6 in pants and shorts (I'm 5'6" and weigh 130 lbs.). I sized up to an 8 but could barely zip them! Sadly, had to go 2 sizes up to a 10!! Very disappointed in the awkward sizing, but the fabric is beautiful for Spring and Summer, and the style looks great with cute low-heeled sandals. Wish there were more pastel colors, though.

Get ready for compliments! These shorts have such a beautiful drape, pack easily, don’t wrinkle, and pair perfectly with bodysuits and blazers. At 5’2”, the 5” style are the perfect length, and while typically a size 2, I went with the 4. I’ve purchased 3 colors, and will likely buy more - would love to see them in Navy! They really are effortless!

Would definitely size up in these. Bought a 2 instead of a 0 based on other reviews here, and they fit perfectly in the waist. Was a bit afraid the legs would be too big on me with the 2, but they're not. My regular size with the effortless pants is a 0 btw. Also, the Saville colour is lovely for year round wear I think.

I am a size 0 in the Effortless Pant but a 2 in the shorts. I am 5"2 and 115lbs with an athletic build. It's so nice to have a chic short that flatters my body! I want a pair in every color!

This new batch of effortless shorts (especially the black color. If u r lucky to receive the old batch style, then you are good) is very disappointing. Sizing and styling is off. It is not as flattering as the previous/old batch of effortless shorts. The waist size for these new ones are smaller. I’ve always been a 0/xs with wilfred effortless and babaton bottoms. Had to size up to 2 (I’m 115 pounds and I haven’t even gained a pound in weight) and it’s still not flattering although the waist fits better than size 0. I love love aritzia and want to remain a loyal customer. Don’t fix what is not broken.

I got the white shorts and the quality is great - not see through at all. The 5 in. length is perfect for tall girlys. I'm 5'10" and these are the perfect length - not too short, but still flattering and not super long. I am usually a 4 or 6 and ordered the 4. I usually have problems finding bottoms that fit my body type. I have a smaller waist and wider hips. HOwever, the size 4 fits me very well; I may need to get the waist taken in a tad, but could also get away with leaving as is.

I often find the crotch length on Aritzia pants / shorts too short, even on high waisted ones. This is the main reason why I don’t own a lot of them. They cause camel toes.

I love the look of these shorts but after going to put them on a couple times the hem came undone. It’s finished with a very loose invisible stitch that does not stay intact for long. The exact same thing happened to my Effortless Pants. Such a shame for the high price point.

First, the fit. The fit is TTS but slightly tight in the stomach/waist, so would suggest going a size up if you don’t have a flat stomach/want some breathing room. I’m 4’11 (curvy athletic built; thick muscular thighs w/ some butt), 142lbs, and got a size 8 (my TTS). The leg area is loose and does not constrict my thighs, but since my thighs rub while I walk, the excess material does ride up, bunching around my crotch, which sucks. Now, the quality… The stitching is so low quality. I wore these shorts for an hour during date night, and the stitching around the leg cuffs started coming apart, and I had to ask a server at the restaurant I was at for some scissors to cut the thread that was coming undone and hanging off the back of my leg. Yikes. Aritzia quality really went down over the years. How disappointing.

I waited a month (summer is half over!) to get a black pair of effortless shorts because they were back ordered. I have the white (7”) in size 8 and I love them. I also have the black pants in size 8. So obviously I ordered the 8 in the 5”. I got them and they don’t even zip up! They are now back ordered to October. I love aritzia but the size inconsistencies are a problem, especially with online shopping. All the shipping, packaging and driving is doubled if you have to keep exchanging products because of inconsistent sizing. The design is the same, the fabric is the same, shouldn’t this be simple?

I really liked them. They fit a bit tight on the waist and I'm usually a 00/xxs and most of the time I still have some room but they run a bit smaller. Although it's no big deal. Still loved them.

Fantastic shorts highly recommend! I have 4 pairs of shorts in different colours, and 2 pairs of effortless pants! I suggest sizing up a size or 2 as they dig into your ribs a bit when you sit down. Otherwise they fit well and look super sleek on! A++!!

They fit true to size and are so easy to style. I love the color (frozen grey). It’s kind of like a baby blue. I also love how they can be dressed up and down.

These are great! I got a light color and they're not see-through unless you pull the shorts against your body but even then it's barely noticeable. Fabric hangs well.

Not sure if I somehow got a pair from a size-corrected batch, but these fit true-to-size whereas the Sonata 5" shorts I also ordered were way too snug and sheer on me. Love the fit and shape of these shorts: narrow waist accentuated by pleats that add subtle volume without any bulk. Very figure-flattering and classy. Perfect length too.
